Oh Sweet Rutabaga


I was a bit skeptical about introducing rutabaga. Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I had this veggie. But I had heard it made a fabulous puree. So I thought why not.

When I finished the puree I felt it needed a bit of love. I added nutmeg and bam! Yummy!

Oh Sweet Rutabaga:

1 small organic rutabaga

A pinch of nutmeg

2 tablespoons organic heavy cream or whole milk

Peel and cut rutabaga into cubes. Steam it for about 15-20 minutes, until tender. Place steamed, soft rutabaga in blender along with 1/4-1/3 cup the steaming liquid if available. Add heavy cream/milk and puree until smooth. If you feel the puree is a bit thick, add your liquid of choice (breastmilk, formula, water or whole milk). Add your pinch of fresh nutmeg and puree. Serve warm. It’s divine.
