A Soulful Sole Puree

I am a big believer in giving babies fish twice a week. One of my favor fish is Lemon Sole. It’s delicate and light. it also purees very well. This fish is also wonderful for those little ones that have sprouted their first teeth as they can easily break it down if you serve the fish in chunks.

For this puree I mixed the sole with some potatoes, peas and fresh basil

Soulful Sole Puree:

1 small piece of clean fresh Lemon Sole (make sure there are no bones!)

1 tablespoon of unsalted butter

1/2 of an Idaho potato, peeled and chopped

1/2 cup Organic baby peas

2 fresh washed basil leaves

Liquid of tour choice (breastmilk, formula, whole milk or water)

In a frying pan heat butter. When completely melted place Sole in pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side. Turn heat off. Place fish and the juices from the pan into your blender. In your steamer, steam potato for about 15 minutes or until tender. Place potato in your blender with the fish. Do not add the steaming water as it’s very starchy. Steam your peas for 10 minutes and add them to the blender. Add the steaming liquid from the peas. Puree ingredients until smooth. If the puree is too thick, add some of your liquid until you get a nice smooth texture. Add your washed basil leaves and puree again until completely smooth. Serve warm.

* You can also use chicken instead of fish, but please cook your chicken well before putting into the blender. (I would recommend making a roast chicken for your family and taking a small piece of it for the puree)
